5 Upcoming Prime Video TV Series 2019 - Why aren't they here yet!??

Just as I wrote an Upcoming Netflix TV Shows 2019, the same had to be done for Amazon Prime Video, because, let’s face it, these two companies are battling for 1st place & both are at the top of their game.

1.) Good Omens - I must admit, when I first saw this trailer, I wasn’t particularly blown away. However, after re-visiting it for the 2nd, possibly 3rd time, it has sparked some form of my interest. It may not contain my typical requirements for a series, yet, it’s always good to try different things & in this instance, the ‘thing’ appears to be apocalyptic comedy.

This TV show is based on the best selling novel by Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman, which follows Aziraphale, an angel, and Crowley, a demon, who have formed an unlikely friendship spanning 6000 years & have grown fond of life on Earth. However, due to the inevitable Armageddon, they must now devise a plan to save Earth.

David Tennant & Michael Sheen are the two main protagonists, so if this is a match made in heaven, or hell, then look no further.

2.) Too Old To Die Young - I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this before, although, it does have elements that have been cropping up in different movies as of late. It comes across as a very stylish, beautifully shot crime thriller, with what I could only describe the setting as being in the very near future..? Regardless, it looks as if it could be a force to be reckoned with.

Miles Teller leads this, what appears to be, visual delight, but it also shows promise in it’s story/plot, which Amazon describes as ‘following characters’ existential journeys from killers to samurai in the city of angels’. If that description has you where it wants you, then watching the trailer will probably have you on the edge of your seat & demanding that the month of June take place already.

I, personally, very much look forward to watching Too Old To Die Young & just hope that it’s everything it looks like it will be.

3.) The Boys - There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this TV Show, as the comic book, written by Garth Ennis, is full of all the extremities that a lot of people seem to adore it for, or, will adore it for. I’m not going to lie, the whole ‘group of superheroes coming together to do good’ is immensely cheesy to me, so much so, that I can’t bare to watch any of it. That being said, The Boys seems to offer a more dark/twisted tone with less of the charm & more of the brute.

As always, the proof is most certainly in the pudding, so when this is released, I will report back with my findings. Until then, the trailer is below for your convenience.

4.) The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 - My full review on this series can be found here, but if you’re looking for a quick fix, then look no further!

The true star of this TV show is Rachel Brosnahan, who, let’s face it, is nothing less than impressive & I’m not exaggerating. Rachel really is highly entertaining to watch, but of course, if it wasn’t for the writer, Amy Sherman-Palladino, doing what she does best, which is, coming up with highly successful TV gold, we wouldn’t have any of it.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is set in New York during the 1950’s, focusing on a young woman who decides to follow her heart in becoming a female comedian. Now, some of you may be relishing in that description & some of you wont, however, for those of you who this description does nothing for, take a look at the trailer, as there’s all kinds of antics that occur, from annoying parents, genuinely hilarious one-liners, impeccable chemistry, high’s, low’s, relationship trouble & bliss, awkwardness, controversy, you name it, this show has it & the fact it’s returning for a third season only supports my encouragement for it. Unfortunately, there’s no trailer as of yet, but as always, as soon as one is released, it will be added below.

There’s nothing set in stone confirming that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3 will be released in 2019, although, reports do hint/suggest it will be squeezed in before Christmas of this year, so watch this space.

5.) Sneaky Pete Season 3 - Another ‘Season 3’ appears on this list & for good reason. Sneaky Pete is a 1st class TV show starring Giovanni Ribisi who sits comfortably in the drivers seat at all times throughout this finely crafted piece of machinery. Besides a whole host of highly rated/talented actors, this show separates itself from the rest, simply because it’s just that good. For my full review, click here.

Sneaky Pete is about a con man who pretends to be somebody he’s not. Yeah, you guessed it! He pretends to be somebody called Pete, yet his real name is actually Marius, but there’s a good reason why he pretends to be somebody he isn’t.

This show offers a highly addictive plot with a lead protagonist that has a wealth of experience that simply cannot be ignored. Just as I mentioned regarding Rachel Brosnahan being so creatively gifted, Giovanni Ribisi is also no exception. Sneaky Pete hits the ground running, which is exactly the kind of show I love. It doesn’t beat around the bush in the slightest, it’s well balanced, excellently paced & is thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.

There you have it! That’s 5 upcoming Amazon Prime Video TV shows for 2019.

I hope you enjoyed the list, but if you think that there should have been other TV shows that needed to be mentioned, please comment down below & your reasons as to why!

Thank you for reading & I’ll see you on the next post!
