Remember Me - A song I wrote for Nipsey Hussle.
If you’ve read my What About Me? page , then you’ll know I’ve been writing poetry/lyrics since I was 13 years old & on the day of Nipsey Hussle’s passing, this song flowed out of my fingertips like water..
I've been writing for some years now, putting in the work, I gave myself a push, but not enough of the hurt, I was never scared of failure, just didn't take the steps, maybe if I did, I cud write my mum a cheque, if there's one thing that I've learnt, is that life is a roller coaster, sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down, living how you're supposed to, you’ve got to make the most of the time you currently have, when I think that you're gone forever, makes me truly sad, I was introduced to you, loved the sound of your voice, when I heard your story, you know I simply made a choice, Mailbox Money came, c-e-mented you in the game, you weren't looking for the fame, made me wonder why you came, just like the rest the of us, you were trying to escape the lonely pain, Nipsey Hussle was your name, from the darkest nights you made me change, you invested in yourself & look what you accomplished, concrete blocks in the way, yet you demolished.
Sometimes I wonder where the fallen go, when the curtains close, do you know? Is there a place you call home? When you're feeling all alone..
You've spent all your energy, got many an enemy, my destiny awaits, please just always remember me..
I wish I could see you taking a victory lap, like millions of others, we were caught in the same trap, I could truly relate, we came from different places, one body & mind, different skin & different faces, when you mentioned the Mayan ruins, my skin shivered, were you meant to have that moment? I’ve got it all figured, you reminded me of 2pac, gave me the same feelings, no bigger a compliment, hope you both chilling, I didn't even meet you, yet I'm writing like I did, I'm 30 years old & got me why-ing like a kid, this is no joke, when I heard of the news, I felt sick to my stomach, as humans we tend to abuse, what's the point of the rules, if nobody else follow them, let them take away our lives? Like their bullets, they’re hollow in, rest in eternal peace, in your music you shall live, I dedicate this song to what Nipsey Hussle did.
